The Colts

The Bangers promote the traditional values of amateur rugby - playing hard, playing fair and having fun. This is especially represented amongst our Colts who focus on the sport almost as hard as they do on the beers afterwards.

The Colts boast many victories including the Soi 33 Cup, RSBC 10s, RSBC 15s and Cambodia 10's

Meet the Team

Travis Clements

Co-Captain /8th man / Flank / Inside Center

This South African has been part of the Bangers since 2014.

Travis' best memory with the team is his first tour to Ho Chi Min, Cambodia. The team played for the cup final and won with their starting 15 with no reserves. True to the Bangers style, many bonds were formed, and great first impressions were made.

The unrivaled camaraderie on and off the pitch has kept Travis in the Bangers all these years.

Dean Bennett

Co-Captain / Centre / Wing / Fullback / Flyhalf

Dean had the honor of being named the co-captain of the Colts this season.

He has stepped up as Belles coach a few times and can always be relied on to crack a joke or two on and off the pitch. He can be found fixing his hair while everyone else warms up before games.

His favorite memory with the Bangers is the win at the RSBC 10's tournament after making the final the year before. He's also proud to be part of the team that won the RBSC 15's and has gone unbeaten since.

Darryn Mathee

Center / Flyhalf

The man responsible for the majority of runaway tries scored for the Colts. His boots need to be soaked in a bucket of ice from all the heat they generate from his quick footwork in games.

Named as the chairman of the club, Darryn commits a lot of his time and energy to make everything in the club run smoothly and to ensure that the team is kitted out in the best gear.

Trevor Zang

Prop

Trevor has been a Banger for five years and because of this has too many good memories with the club to count.

He loves being part of the club because of the amazing experiences and the feeling of family you get from it.

Trevor can be counted on to keep everyone on track during training and motivated during games.

Sebastien Belbenoit

Center / Flank / Wherever there aren't any Saffas yet

Seb has been part of the team for 3 years. As an old captain of the team, he has always shown his commitment fully. He always provides great motivation on and off the pitch.

His best rugby memory is drawing against the Navy after some fabulous momentum with all the guys and winning the RBSC 10's in 2019 (Thanks Dean!) .

His best social memories are the weekend in Hua Hin with the beer tab in the bus, all of the Cambodian 10's with the FABS (and the vodka drinking rooster), the Khon Kaen tour with sister club the Panthers, Trevor eating all of the chicken wings at the Vientiane 10's as the US only child, the huge Christmas dinner at WORKSHOP thanks to Clements, and last but not least all the post-game celebrations at good old Soi 22 with all of the thirsty people.

Benjamin Rawson

Center

Ben has been part of the club for over 10 years. He plays an important role both on and off-field. His bright pink boots are hard to miss as he zooms across the field easily and often scoring tries for the team.

He has volunteered as a coach as well and has been doing a good job making sure everyone learns integral skills.

Ben believes the best part of being a Banger is the love, laughter, and community spirit. He considers the club his family away from family.

Warat Tongbunsing

Prop

One of our Thai players. Warat has been part of the club for almost six years.

He considers all of the Bangkok 10's games to be his favorite memories with the club as they are filled with fun and friendship. He also fondly looks back at being part of the team that placed as first runners-up in the RBSC tournament in 2018.

Warat is a local friendly face with a good heart and passion for rugby.

Brendan Viljoen

Flank

Another South African to join the club a little over 2 years ago. Nicknamed 'mad dog' for his brutality and focus on the field, he's known for leaving others and himself a little worse for wear after games.

Brendan has joined the coaching committee and with his extensive knowledge of rugby and coaching hopes to make an influence on the progression of skills in the team.

His favorite memories with the club involve tours with the Bangers and Panthers to Khon Kaen and Ubon as well as Songkran in Koh Phayam where it felt like a large family gathering every day.

Tristian Dharmajiva

Prop

Tristian is one of the younger players in the Colts and has been part of the club for three years.

He enjoys being part of the club as he gets to make memories with the boys.

His favorite memory is scoring his first try for the club against the Bangkok Japanese in 2020.
